Position Scope:

The LPN functions as a member of the interdisciplinary resident care team under the direction of the Registered Nurse or Director of Care. It is the responsibility of the LPN to provide, supervise or assist in the provision of resident care, administration of medication, maintenance of a clean and sanitary environment, and leisure, independence-promoting programs, and supervisory duties.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Utilizes nursing process to develop nursing care plan and promotes the involvement of all disciplines, families, and residents.
  • Responsible for processing the order, administering, and assessing the resident’s medication requirements and proper recording using EMAR.
  • Ensures nursing procedures are performed according to the facility policy and procedure manual.
  • Responsible for maintaining skills and education

Qualifications:

  • Current registration with the Nove Scotia College of Nursing
  • Standard First Aid and CPR certification
  • Strong Leadership and Excellent Assessment Skills
  • Experience obtaining blood specimens
  • PIECES trained an asset
  • Computer literacy and experience with Civica (Momentum) and InterRAI documentation
  • Reliable with good attendance record
  • Respectful and hardworking team player with professional and courteous manner
  • Experience working in a Long-Term Care or Home Care Setting an asset
  • Clear Criminal Record Abstract and Vulnerable Sector Check within the last 6 months

Shift Availability:

  • 12 Hour Shifts (Pre-booked and On-Call)
  • Days, Nights and Weekends
